Greetings Dearest Hyperboreans

Over the past week a lot has happened with regards to COVID-19 and the response around the world has been unlike anything we have ever experienced. The situation is rapidly changing and we can anticipate that we will continue to see the evolution of this affect each of us on many levels. We have been actively monitoring the announcements made by all levels of government, consulting Public Health and CDC recommendations, and discussing our options at length.

As an event that is created by you, our participants, the restrictions put in place now will affect volunteer training sessions, theme camp preparation, art project fabrication, and the construction of the temple and effigy. We also acknowledge that many in our community will be affected physically, emotionally, mentally and financially in the coming weeks, and we do not want to contribute to anyone’s stress.

At this moment, we need to take into consideration everyone’s health and put safety first. We have decided that with the information we have and the recommendations outlined by Health professionals, that it is our civic duty and responsibility to communal effort to postpone Hyperborea 2020: Tempest.

Effective immediately all ticket sales for the event have been put on hold. We have also put a hold on all grants and all training sessions will be rescheduled.

We are looking into rescheduling the event for the Civic Holiday weekend in August later this year, however this requires much discussion and coordination (and many offices are presently closed). We will make a follow-up announcement to confirm if this is possible or if we will post-pone the event until 2021 on or before 12th April 2020. Stay tuned for that update!
What are my ticket options?

Keep your ticket: If you think you’d still like to attend the event on August Civic Holiday weekend this year, hold onto your ticket for now.

Refunds:
In the event that it is not possible to reschedule the event to the August long weekend, full refunds will be issued following the announcement in April.

If you cannot make the August date, or would like a refund, you can do so by logging into your account at https://signup.tohyperborea.ca/ and clicking the refund ticket links. Be advised that you will need to rejoin the waitlist should you decide to attend once we reschedule the event.

Waitlist: Those on the waitlist will continue to hold their place until ticket sales resume.

TL;DR Hyperborea: Tempest will not be happening in May. We’re looking into moving it to August Civic Holiday weekend, but need time to confirm. You can get a ticket refund if you’re in need, else we suggest holding your tickets for now. We’ll let you all know more on or before 12th April. We love you. Stay safe. Wash your hands.

Lavez vos mains.
